Charities Supported in 2017
Over $41,000 was donated to various charities in 2017, including those listed below. Funds were raised through Foundation member dues, selling candy and license plate frames at the branches, employee "jeans day" contributions, and by hosting the 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament which raised over $14,000.
Kay's Kamp - A camp which provides children ages 5-17 currently battling cancer and those now in remission the opportunity to participate in a unique camping experience promoting fun and normalcy - free of charge. A total of $9,000 was raised and donated to this cause! In March, the Del-One Foundation partnered with Tri-Sports Events and Wild Quail Golf and Country Club for the Shamrock Scramble 5K Run/Walk.
Code Purple - This organization, organized and staffed by volunteers, provides a safe, warm shelter and hot meals to individuals and families who are homeless. The Del-One Foundation sponsored the Firefly Music Festival clean-up efforts for $1,000, where Code Purple volunteers collect sleeping bags, blankets, tents, non-perishable food, etc. that is left behind after the festival. The Foundation also raised and donated an additional $8,000 to help support this worthy organization and their mission.
Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition - This organization serves to raise awareness of breast health issues in Delaware through outreach, education and support to help facilitate the early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The Del-One Foundation sponsored the Monster Mile walk for this organization, and a Del-One debit card was created for members with a $10 donation. A total of $2870 was raised through the debit card initiative alone, and the Foundation then matched that amount for the DBCC. In all, a total of $11,740 was raised and donated to this amazing cause.
Additional funds were raised and donated to causes including Friends of Delaware Veterans, Compassion for Cats of Delaware, Alzheimer's Association of Delaware, 321 Foundation, Sussex Community Crisis Housing Services Inc., and the Delaware Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
