Del-One Federal Credit Union, along with other community leaders, held a Small Business Forum on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at the Rose Hill Community Center in New Castle. The forum invited local small business owners and those who were looking to start a new business. Attendees learned about the importance of business planning from Dr. Rosie Tooley, Executive Director and Founder of Lazarus Educational Services Inc, and how to keep good records from Zarif Goldsborough, CPA of Z Financial Accounting. Ayanna Khan, Founder, President, and CEO of the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce spoke of the benefits of joining the chamber, and Charuni Patibanda, Director of Economic Development in New Castle County shared community resources to help guide small businesses. Additional insights were provided by Del-One’s President and CEO Ron Baron and Member Business Lending Officer Chavonya Reddick. Local small business owners also gave testimonials, and delicious food was available from STIX Chicken. Del-One holds quarterly small business forums at the Rose Hill Community Center, as part of the Banking Desert Initiative (BDI) which began when a need for financial services was recognized in an area spanning from Southbridge to Old New Castle.
Del-One will continue to support these organizations and the community by working together to bring financial knowledge and education to its members.
